Compulsory care

Compulsory care under the Care of Abusers (Special Provisions) Act and the Forensic Mental Care Act

A person who has committed a crime could in certain cases be taken into care under cumpulsory care. A person who is taken into care must always first undergo an enquiry into, among other things, his/her personal circumstances. This also allows the offender the opportunity to find out more about what it means to be taken into care.

Care of young persons

A person under the age of 21 years can be sentenced to juvenile care if he/she is in particular need of care as prescribed in the Social Services Act or the Care of Young Persons (Special Provisions) Act. If a person under the age of 18 years commits a crime, he/she can be sentenced to closed juvenile care for a certain period of time instead of imprisonment.
